Question 1 : How do I order the brace?

Answer : For a patient under medical supervision, provide your treating physician with the following forms. In order for Alignmed to process your order, please fax the below form, prescription, and the patients insurance documentation to Alignmed.

Question 2 : Does Insurance cover the price of the brace?

Answer : Yes. Most major insurance companies cover the price of the brace. Contact your physician for a prescription.

Question 3 : There are a couple ways to wear the brace, which one is right for me?

Answer :

1. Each patient is unique; therefore we recommend trying each option and using the option that feels best.
2. Option C is a more simplified version of option A.
3. If a patient has low back pain use option B accompanied by A or C.

Question 4 : I don’t feel much tension, can we use tighter straps?

Answer :

1. Instead of making the straps tighter, increase the length of wearing time.
2. Also try to adjust the tension by crossing the straps over the abdomen. (Creating an X on the front as well)
3. If you still feel the need for tighter straps, contact your local distributor and request shorter straps.

Question 5 : I have a tingling in my arm, is this normal?

Answer :

1. Consult your physician if this condition persists.

Question 6 : My right shoulder is injured, why do I need to wear straps on each side?

Answer :

1. We always want to wear the brace bilaterally. This allows for balance.

Question 7 : My shoulders are back but my head is still forward?

Answer :

1. If the shoulders are back, then the head should follow.
2. Periodically throughout the day mentally think about the position of your head. Try to pull your head back so the skull is aligned with the shoulders.

Question 8 : How long do I wear the brace?

Answer :

1. See wearing instructions.

Question 9 : I get tired when I wear the brace for extended periods of time. Is this common?

Answer :

1. With each movement you make the brace offers resistance. This allows some of your dormant stabilizing muscles to work. When you start to fatigue you should remove the brace and rest.

Question 10 : The brace feels tight. Should it be tight or looser and more comfortable?

Answer :

1. If you have shortness of breath, the brace is too small and should be removed. Contact your distributor for a larger size
2. In order for the brace to function properly it must be tight fitting.

Question 11 : The brace rides up my stomach, what can I do?

Answer :

1. Try using option C with option B. Option B acts as an anchor preventing the brace from riding up. Also, try tightening the lumbar belt.

Question 12 : Is the S3 a pre or post operative device?

Answer :

As discussed, the S3 is dynamic and can be utilized in many ways. Doctors are currently prescribing the brace for both pre and post surgery.

Most Dr.’s prescribe the brace post surgery along with Rehabilitation. We recommend the brace be worn 3 weeks post surgery to begin strengthening and stretch the shoulder muscles.

Question 13 : What is the turn around time once an order has been made?

Answer :

Depending on inventory the brace should be received within 2-3 business days. We can also ship the brace overnight if desired for an additional charge.

Custom orders take a minimum of 2 weeks.
